A purple person is an everyday superhero! How do you become one? That’s the fun part! Penny Purple will lead you through the steps。 Get ready to be silly, exercise your curiosity, use your voice, and be inspired。

I might have already been in an emotional state when I read this, but it had me crying from the get。 I love how it encourages young people to accept others while still being their best authentic selves。 Love this one。

This was a super cute book and I encourage all students to read this book! It has a great message throughout the whole book to be yourself and don't change a single thing about yourself! Pretty adorable, though might have been even more fun if they hadn't gone with a white protagonist, because honestly that just wasn't necessary and there are already enough kids books with unnecessarily white protagonists。 (Plus this book would encourage me to ask questions about whether or not that was necessary and to push for change and to ask whether other people want me to stand up for them in this way。) Overall some great messages for adults and kids alike。 Also, a good excuse to paint you Pretty adorable, though might have been even more fun if they hadn't gone with a white protagonist, because honestly that just wasn't necessary and there are already enough kids books with unnecessarily white protagonists。 (Plus this book would encourage me to ask questions about whether or not that was necessary and to push for change and to ask whether other people want me to stand up for them in this way。) Overall some great messages for adults and kids alike。 Also, a good excuse to paint yourself purple。 。。。more

I truly cherished this book! As an mentor it hit every one of the things I would search for while adding a book to my homeroom。 A portion of the things the principle character Penny says are so precise to how a youngster talks。 In the book, Bell is moving youngsters to see past society contrasts。

"The World Needs More Purple People" by Kristen Bell is a fantastic story for children, with an even stronger theme and lesson。 The picture book provides 5 effective steps to become a purple person。 A purple person can be defined as individuals that use their voice, help others and advocate for change that is needed。 Purple people are different in their own ways, which is one of the best traits of being a purple person in which everyone is unique! This was a cute book。 It is about embracing one another, and being a "everyday superhero"。 Teaches kids to also embrace there selves and its okay to be who you are。 Being your self is what makes you special and different from others。 This was a cute book。 It is about embracing one another, and being a "everyday superhero"。 Teaches kids to also embrace there selves and its okay to be who you are。 Being your self is what makes you special and different from others。 。。。more

I found this book interesting because of the pictures as well as the message。 It talks about ways to be a "purple person" which is someone (as described in the book) who is kind, hardworking, and they laugh a lot。 This books talks about different ways to be curious, silly, kind, etc。 After reading this I decided to read more into the author and found it interesting that she pretends to be other people。 I found this book interesting because of the pictures as well as the message。 It talks about ways to be a "purple person" which is someone (as described in the book) who is kind, hardworking, and they laugh a lot。 This books talks about different ways to be curious, silly, kind, etc。 After reading this I decided to read more into the author and found it interesting that she pretends to be other people。 。。。more

A humorous book that encourages young readers to ask tough questions。 To explore their worlds and avoid labeling others。 And, sometimes, to simply not like brussel sprouts。 A simple take on acknowledging differences and finding/celebrating ways we're alike。 A humorous book that encourages young readers to ask tough questions。 To explore their worlds and avoid labeling others。 And, sometimes, to simply not like brussel sprouts。 A simple take on acknowledging differences and finding/celebrating ways we're alike。 。。。more

This feels。。。like a picture book written by a celebrity。 The idea isn't terrible。。。be a creative person who includes other people and asks questions and wants to learn。。。but there's nothing different or unusual or innovative or really interesting about this at all unless you have a kid who really likes purple。 (Yes, kids will take this literally。) It isn't really。。。about anything。 It's not about diversity or difference at all。 I think it's supposed to be about being less politically divisive but This feels。。。like a picture book written by a celebrity。 The idea isn't terrible。。。be a creative person who includes other people and asks questions and wants to learn。。。but there's nothing different or unusual or innovative or really interesting about this at all unless you have a kid who really likes purple。 (Yes, kids will take this literally。) It isn't really。。。about anything。 It's not about diversity or difference at all。 I think it's supposed to be about being less politically divisive but kids won't get that。 And the illustrations were cartoony and what people who don't read modern kids books think kids books look like。Honestly? My favorite part was the author and illustrator bios on the jacket。 They were adorable。 。。。more

This book is an amazing book to read to your elementary students。 The book over all talks about how to be a "purple person" or an over all good person。 The book is beautifully illustrated and so colorful。 This book will inspire your students to become "purple people" i think its a book that can be read more than once through out the school year as a reminder to your students。I chose this book for my read-aloud because i found it over winter break and fell in love with it。 The beautiful pictures This book is an amazing book to read to your elementary students。 The book over all talks about how to be a "purple person" or an over all good person。 The book is beautifully illustrated and so colorful。 This book will inspire your students to become "purple people" i think its a book that can be read more than once through out the school year as a reminder to your students。I chose this book for my read-aloud because i found it over winter break and fell in love with it。 The beautiful pictures and the purpose behind it make it a perfect book for your classroom。 。。。more

This book was cute。 I'm not sure it was one of my favorites。 It was one of the top children's book last year and figured I would check it out。 (It's nice to intersperse these types of light fun books with some of the longer books that I have)。 I liked trying to find the worm who shows up in some of the pictures, pretty funny。 I like how each person in her family was teaching her how to be a purple (better) person。 Everyone in her family taught her different things。 :) This book was cute。 I'm not sure it was one of my favorites。 It was one of the top children's book last year and figured I would check it out。 (It's nice to intersperse these types of light fun books with some of the longer books that I have)。 I liked trying to find the worm who shows up in some of the pictures, pretty funny。 I like how each person in her family was teaching her how to be a purple (better) person。 Everyone in her family taught her different things。 :) 。。。more

There’s no way for a single children’s book to solve systemic issues — and I think that’s what a lot of people wanted from this book。 It’s not that。 It does, however, encore the idea that purple (read: good, compassionate) people can be anyone no matter their physical features or background。 And it does a very good job of it。

Brittany Sanford

It was nice。 It was ok。 Premise: A purple person can be any shape or any color。 A purple person is someone who asks questions, is kind, and tries to be a good person。

This book really made me think in a new perspective。 For instance this story is about embracing the things that we all have in common as well as what makes us different from each other because that is what brings us altogether。 I think this story would be great for children because it would help them to see others in a new perspective as well。

Peyton

This is a good book。 Two thumbs up。 It’s very clearly written for children, without feeling condescending。 I liked that the general message is just to be yourself。 Also, purple is my favourite colour。 :D

I thought this book was so cute! This book is about embracing yourself and finding what makes you so special! This read was so sweet and fun to read。 The little girl finds common ground with those around her like her family and friends。 In this world today it is hard to feel special, and I think this book does a good job at making the reader feel like they are unique。

As a future educator, I am so happy to have this book on my shelf at home。 It reminds students that they are hard workers, kind, and really amazing people。 I could see myself reading this to them after a long day of classroom activities, play, or even testing。 The world really does need more purple people!

This book was very cute and it is very encouraging fo students。 It encourages them to be kind to others as well as working on themselves, educationally by asking questions and emotionally by encouraging them to laugh and surround themselves with laughter。
